AEG in the SWIFT Regional Conference for Africa 2011 in Balaclava-Mauritius
Being SWIFT regional partner in the Middle East and Northern Africa, and handling most of the African banking market, AEG had the honor to participate and to be an exhibitor in the SWIFT Regional Conference in Africa which was held from the 30th of May till the 1st of June, 2011 in Balaclava, Mauritius.
Over the past decade, Africa’s GDP growth topped the global average and demonstrated a greater than expected resilience during the global economic crisis. The IMF is forecasting strong growth of 5.3 % in 2011, which places Africa as one of the fastest-growing regions in the world, after China and India. Africa offers a huge market of one billion people and provides enormous economic potential.
Having this current situation in mind and under the title “Fostering Africa’s growth in the New Reality – From vision to action” the SWIFT ARC was organized and launched to give the opportunity for everyone to hear the views of local key figures from the financial industry on a range of issues that are highly relevant to the SWIFT Community in Africa.
Many things were suggested to be studied by the attendees in the different sessions like how can the political and business leaders of the continent collaborate and prove to the world that the potential is real? What are the drivers of Africa’s competitiveness in a post-crisis global economy? How can Africa’s emerging economies tap into global financial markets? Going forward, how can Africa take on a leadership role and further attract global and regional investment and sustain its growth path through greater industrial diversification and innovation? How can growth be fostered through partnerships and collaboration of the financial industry players?
The Allied Engineering Group was a main partner in collaborating with SWIFT in answering to the many questions and assisting the African financial institutions through AEG’ support, technical, marketing and sales teams.
In addition to the plenary discussions organized by SWIFT, many work sessions and interactive discussions and customers workshops were prepared to cover a range of SWIFT products and services like Alliance Interfaces Release 7, Mobile Payments, Worker Remittances, Integration, Connectivity Resilience, solutions for payments and Corporates, Sanctions and Business Intelligence.
As well many AEG products and services were proposed to the institutions during the workshop in purpose of helping and assisting them to reach their vision.
